The global population is expected to exceed 9 billion by 2050, and the demand for food is expected to increase dramatically. In order to avoid a devastating food crisis, the global search for innovative alternative foods and proteins is underway, including those led by international organizations such as the United Nations.
In this session, we will highlight "insects" as a highly nutritious food source. We will showcase business and research cases centered upon insects both in Japan and overseas and discuss the reality and potential of utilizing insects for food.
